Has anyone ever been on the Kommander Subsea 2000 the SS7 vessel operating out of Brazil?. If so what is it like, is it a heap of shit or what?. Whats the accomodation like?, how does it handle the sea, is it a roller?

As far as vessels go. It was one of SS7’s better ones. Pity about the crew though. bunch of prima donna’s, like all SS7 boat people. MeoooooW

You’re way out of date, kicker. The boat’s been in Brazil for several years and all th prima donnas are on SClubs pipeplay boats.

The K2K does basic survey/field support work for Petrobras. Freeswimming Hercules on a thin armored cable. Nice Odim fully active heave comp launch system.

Vessel is not a particularly good sea boat and you get some pretty big seas down there.
Accommodation is nice for its time (mid ’90s) but getting tired.

    Warning
Don’t even think about it if you are over 5ft10 – the ceilings are too low and you’ll wind up with bad back/neck problems!

I would say that cuts out atleast 90 % of the worlds ROV pilots 😆

Although you’re OK if you’re a data donkey ’cause you’ll naturally stoop anyway with your knuckles trailing on the ground.

Worked on the KSS2000, on it’s last job in the North sea, I think, prior to it’s departure for warmer climes- an aircraft recovery out of the Moray Firth. Accom was OK but typically dull, messing facilities were fine, had a small gym (of sorts), although she does roll a bit so this could get tricky.
All in all there is a lot worse- cabin air con worked fine back then too.

better looking at it than looking for it!
