On my last job i spoke with many locals Chinese, philipinos, malays and they were getting rates like this ,

Even in ROV my Malay super was getting less than me .

Indian rates are worse, only expat type on reasonable rates although Indians are understudying them too, the rest on local rates. Basically these Countries want to local crews. Malaysian contracts stipulate mostly a 2/3 fill for local personnel.

A lot of the local people here in Asia is good, very good,,, but you also have not so good people, Oceaneering had a system on a rig here with only local people onboard, a lot of problems with that system, to make it short,,, get some expat onboard or the system is offhire. So should they have the same dayrate?, also its not so expensive to live in Asia. what do you think?

Once again this a ROV related web site …what made you thing rig hands was a related topic…with judgement like that no wonder the day rates are shit.

Save the space for ROV related subjects.
But here is a flash for you…..if you do not like the day rate ….dont except it.

Expats are more inclined to rattle the prang….got it!

Ok , Keeping in line with the topic you have started Rovbionic 🙂
I have absolutely NO problems with other nationalities working in the ROV industry………………………………………………….
As long as they get paid the same amount of money as me 😀
What with the Oil companies making ‘X’ amount of millions profit each year No matter where they operate in the world , I think it’s fair to say that the ‘Caibre’ of personnel needed ( trained and experienced etc ) should get the same amount of money 😯
As The Baron has aptly pointed out in the past …………………….
You pay peanuts , You get Monkies 😀
