We are looking for a good Wire guided LARs system to be installed on a deepwater rig. This is suppose to assist ROV to launch and recover up to state 10 heavy weather.Does anyone have any good recommendation or knows which company can design one?

    Thanks

seastate 10? Really? Are you using pierson-moskovits scale for this?

    Try Thunderbirds.

    They work in any weather!

Yeah coz anything over a sea state 10 would just be way too big!

    Hi Kaka,
we are currently carrying out trials on a sea state 7 lars system on our vehicle, and so far so good.
Try smd hydrovision, they build this type of kit.

Beaufort seastate perhaps?? ok – 55kt winds and 10m waves. Sounds ok from a rig perhaps, they don’t bounce about as much as a boat (low RAOS).

    For comparison…… beaufort and PM.

Thanks for all the info. The State 10 is a requirement set by our client. I think to operate in Beaufort state 10 for a rig should be ok once you are able to go past the surface swell though my heart will definitely be pounding very fast.

ach, BF10 maybe shouldn’t be that bad (kind of on the limit though) if you have a centre-ish mounted moonpool, and a wind/wave direction that might give you a bit of shelter. Its an ultradeep water rig?? What arena you going into?

The sound of PM 10 tends to make the butt-ski pucker. lol
