Just back from there, (Nigerian Delta)

The devil is in the detail

The questions you should be asking relate to where – exactly – the work is and what – specifically – are the details relating to security, i.e. gunboats, rules of engagement, nationality of the security personnel (Mercs) etc

It all boils down to the risk vs reward equation, everybody makes their own choice on this, is the reward enough for ME to justify the risk.

It’s all subjective, but it always is…anywhere…

If it doesn’t meet your risk / reward criteria, then just say no, there’s no need to worry about it – you can always say no

    Scott,
    It’s all old news….

    Anything from this year?

Know for a fact that the stuff that happened / kicked off when we were there never made it onto the net…

But, give them their due, our "security" did the bizzo

    It’s always the same there….

Like I say….just make sure you’re happy with the guys covering your back or don’t go

I prefer Nigeria to Angola any day, now that place IS a sh*te hole, with no one covering your back, cos it’s "safe"

    Scott,
Agreed, any body thinking of going there needs to gen up on the place and what’s going on.
    BUT
Every time there’s a mention of the place on the forum the same old same old knee jerk stuff is trotted out
It’s all very well posting this stuff – but how was it when you were there?

I’m assuming you have been there?

Long ago, it’s stricken off my resume as well. Uh… one tends to be nervous whilst there if one hasn’t been in the SAS, Recon, Rangers,(take your pick)…

And that’s why, as I said above:
