Can someone tell me who produces or supplies Ocean Lube Lite, can’t find it on the internet?
April 2, 2009 at 9:29 am #22731Rons_ROV_LinksParticipantIs that the green anti-seize?
It’s probably the same as AquaShield which is available from MacArtney and Bennex.

Found this MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET (HMS Datablad) in Norwegian.
http://logichem.netpower.no/datasheet.aspx?iId=24562&iDepId=7
Judging by the sheet it looks like Oceaneering use it on their ROV’s
Oceaneering AS
P.O Box 8024
4003 STAVANGER
Tlf: (47)51 82 51 00 Fax: (47)51 82 52 90I guess you could contact them and ask.
datasheets yes, but as to who may sell the stuff… Google, Yahoo etc. Nada!
Ron’s suggestion sounds like the way to go.
April 2, 2009 at 2:44 pm #22729Graeme HoyleParticipantThanks Gents, it’s the brownish white muck used for umbilical lubes by Oceaneering, used to work for them and was hoping someone from OI might pick this up and be able to give me the details. Just happens to be one I know but I’d be happy to use another make if anyone could recommend one that does a good preventative job.
April 2, 2009 at 2:49 pm #22730James McLauchlanParticipantAs in steel wire rope (lift umbilical) external lubrication oil?
April 2, 2009 at 3:33 pm #22728melvodonParticipantyep it’s an oceaneering product ,the older stuff was better as it was thinner and easyer to apply ,but apparently ocean lube lite is the the same visscosity (the verdict is out on that one ) spent few days trying to engineer a spraying method of puting the stuff on the umbilical ,thing is it is excuse my french but a bastard to aply ended up using one of the big water bottles that are on the dispensers cutting the bottom of it and on the outlet using 1/2 ss tube bend at 45deg and on the outside radius of the bend inserting a 1/4 tube getting the rig welder to tack it on (2mm tube with a 4 mm low high rod ) was a nightmare took 12 attempts the rig welder was shite though kept on leaving me with a molten mess …..any ways evently got 2 tacks then silcone sealed the joint cover the joint with amalagmating tape eventuly got a good seal first attempt 1/2 tube for sunction and 1/4 tube for air works for 5 mins then clogs up try watering down the ocean shite is worse dosent mix with water no matter how much you adjatate it it ionises and just sticks to the side of the tube ,so went for the gravity and vaccum method ,and its a winner just need a big diffuser on the outlet for a wider spray about an 1" should suffice ,you get a device called a core lubber that the umbilical slides through and the brushes inside the unit brush the lube in to the umbilical (sounds great never saw one yet and god knows how you fit it on 2 the system )
chesus h christ the spelling and the typos (you get the jist hope this is of some use ) 😳
Forgot to say fit it on the level wind (make sure it does not snag on the drum ) if you have right angle level wind fashion somthing to the sheave wheel some how hahaha SKY hook

April 2, 2009 at 4:56 pm #22733AnonymousGuestYou might want to try wire lube from Bel-Ray
April 2, 2009 at 7:46 pm #22734Andy ShiersParticipantBriLube 🙂
April 2, 2009 at 8:35 pm #22735Rons_ROV_LinksParticipantSnokote: Snokote®CL extends the operational life of ROV lift umbilicals and wire rope cables by providing corrosion control and lubrication in marine and seawater environment.
April 2, 2009 at 9:27 pm #22736Ray ShieldsParticipantShell also do an ROV Umbilical Lubricant, looks like Aqualube/Aquashield, expensive.
