    😥 Lost ROV
I need your help – we lost a vehicle last Thursday in the South Pass Area while doing a platform inspection. See the attached poster.

The vehicle was lost at South Pass Block 93 (“B” platform). The location of that platform is as follows:
    89° 23.61′ (89.3935°)
    28° 40.18′ (28.66964°)

We believe that the vehicle was initially drifting on a 210° to 240° vector from the platform at approximately 1 knot. We believe that on this vector the vehicle is most likely in the Grand Isle area or the South Timbalier area.

Please circulate this to your vessel staff. Hopefully, they will keep an eye out for it and we get out lost child back.

    Best Regards,

    Bob

Did you have a FM beacon or dead ROV loss transponder on the vehicle?

    If so what frequency?

Where is this Grande Isle ?
    I confess I don’t know where it is 😕
In my observational experience , ROV’s only get lost on platforms because People don’t know when to call it quits when the weather is up or some muppet trying to liveboat it and the tether gets severed by hungry ships thruster or canna maintain position. How about the ROV breaking down in the most inconvenient of times……….. night time …..sea getting rough and the current starts to run 😯
I’m sorry to hear the loss of your Sub Atlantic vehicle 😯

    Lostboy,

It’s on the Coast of Louisiana. Up until a few months ago it had some really nice beaches… 😳

Your post should read ‘ROVs only get lost on platforms because the team doesn’t have the necessary experience to operate them’. Don’t kid yourself about dead sub/ TMS, bad weather blah, blah, blah – all these situations can be dealt with and the sub recovered to deck withouth loss provided the supv and ideally the PTs know what they are doing.

Too many clowns and jugglers in the industry these days and as with Mr Pump Breaker, it’s costing companies big $$$. Why not pay some of those big $$$ to guys who know the job and keep costs down rather than suffer losses like this by using muppets 🙄

Aaagh so it was in the states 😯 , Maybe they should hire those Expert Divers that were on TV last week ! Boy were they good 🙂
I could not agree more Mr driver 😀
But I would prefer it in £££££££
Dollars are,…… Ooooooh so yesterday 🙄 It always smells of disaster 😕

Sorry to hear that you have lost one of your Mohican’s. When you recover it if you need any support from Sub-Atlantic get in touch and we will go our best to get you up and running as soon as possible.

What’s up with the subtle threats??? I mean they are offering to help someone get their system back up and running, are you saying they as a company shouldn’t help their customers?

Obviously there’s an opportunity to drum up business here so of course Sub-Atlantic are interested – doh! Remember – nothing is for free!
