Subsea 7 acquires ROVs from Schilling Robotics

Schilling Robotics has announced the award of new contracts for ROV systems from Subsea 7. A total of three ROV systems will be supplied for delivery in the second quarter of 2011, including one 150hp, 3,000m rated ACV ROV system and two 150hp, 3,000m rated HD ROV systems.

The ACV ROV system is an addition to Subsea 7’s existing fleet of construction vehicles and will be mobilized on Subsea 7’s new pipelay/heavy lift vessel, Seven Borealis.

Incorporating advanced power sharing technology, the ACV is capable of performing the most demanding subsea construction tasks and has a comprehensive track record for delivering both performance and reliability.

The HD ROV system is a work-class vehicle which provides flexibility for construction and inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) applications.

The HD’s integrated system design leverages modular sub-systems for ease of maintenance, and provides the most on-board space available in a mid-size vehicle for integrating specialized intervention tooling.

Subsea 7 will mobilize the HD systems to support ROV-based IMR work in the Norwegian Sea and North Sea.

It took them long enough to ‘see the light’. About time.

Well they tried enough times with the Hercs but never got there, even the latest versions off the Herc aren’t a scratch on the XLX or latest Quest; I’m only surprised they went for shilling! Perry XLX is closer to what subsea tried to achieve. I’m sure there’s an egocentric in the base with a grudge against Perry somewhere.

Heard from a bloke down the pub that the egocentric also has a grudge against Schilling
