Interested to find persons who worked on this machine, what was it like, was it reliable, operations. Would it be worth using in this day 2011. Looking for individuals with experience in the operation and also maintenance/repair of it.
Have the hardware, warehoused in Europe interested to get feedback if its worth the effort and money to get it up and running again.
There is a possibility of a job out of this for the right individuals. First I need feedback of the hardware. Overhaul, ect. Need to info before spending money.
I have seen a few short comments of individuals having been on this system in the past.
    Please contact me.

Sorry, I haven’t been working with this machine, but I have the following information (history):

The SmartJet was built by Seatec (now actually Seatools) for a cable installation company called Van der Stoel (later Dutch Sea Cable) at the end of the nineties.
It was installed onboard the cableship Sea Spider (now Team Oman).

As far as I know the SmartJet was operated by ROV-pilots from Noordhoek.

    [edit]
I don’t know if the SmartJet has ever been used after the Seaspider was sold to Topaz Energy and Marine.

I did some time on Van der stoels smartjet. It was a fantastic trencher. very powerfull and could trench far deeper that the inovatum tracking system was able to track. However it was a prototype and had the usual problems. A second was built for Noordhoeks use. and I believe a third was planned but dont know if it was ever built.
I cant imagine what state it is in now. I believe it was parked up in the desert in the emirates somewhere for years after vad der stoel went bust with the cable crash.
It was good to operate and repair. I would love to get work on one again should it ever resurface.

It was built and is no longer in the desert. I am seeking persons with experience in the system and whom have information in regards to the technical systems and also the performance that was accomplished with the unit. I have growing interest in the system and would like to here from any and all individuals so that we can decide how best it would be restored and brought back into operations. As I am looking to spend significant funds on this there needs to be substance to all this.

Once again if individuals have info and also experience in this system I would like to get in touch, please contact me please, I would also like to have interested parties persons send me CVs also and info about their longer term interest. Many thanks.

The second trencher was called Seajet 2000 and was built for dredging company HAM, now part of Van Oord.
Parts of the SeaJet like PSU’s, Pleugers, etc. were used for a tracked trencher for the Amelia windfarm offshore the Dutch coast.
The SeaJet or what was left of it was sold to Oceanteam just before they filed for bankrupcy.

    @rovman

Sorry thats not what I have in my yard. That well…… looks like a bit more rough than what I would consider overhaul – able.

If you have info on SmartJet 1150 that would be good. As 003 is very much still in restorative state.

But the pic is a good laugh.

Info and performance figures for it.

The Seajet once looked like this:

    See this article: http://www.oilpubs.com/oso/article.asp?v1=4242
Oceanteam bought it for the bouyancy only.
The Seajet had a frame made of steel instead of alu. Just to make sure it stayed on the seabed I guess.
