    Lo all,

I was wondering who on here works for Technip (Abz) and to ask if they’d like to share some info i.e.

General info on what they are like to work for?
Is it all dayrate and no salary?
Where is the main body of work?
    Who’s the honcho to contact?

    aye aye in advance

I occasionally work for technip through agency. They are ok to work for except they use dinosaur ex dive ocm’s (nearly all). Bonus is all there stuff is boat based, even if some of their boats belong in a museum. (avoid the constructor at all costs !)The vehicles are good and mostly well maintained.

They pay day rate and salary for sub eng and above.

    They have work all over.

Dave Christy is the guy to speak to.

I think they need supv’s as a lot of them have left.

Out of interest, where did the supv’s go that left Technip?

Not surprised more people aren’t leaving if DC is in charge.
Coco and Grimaldi would do better!

Rigboot, the last lot that left went to TS marine.

Grouty, the feeling amongst the lads at technip is mostly good towards DC. They are just glad that Angus went to canyon !

Actually they they dont like the guy – i was on a T3 course for Technip with about 15 guys from tech 1 down to trainee and not one had a good word to say about the guy, i have to admit it was even less for Angus. I was there when a guy was asking for a week extra with a foriegn port so he can claim his seamans tax and he said " If i have to pay tax so can you" i thought that was a bit shit especially when there wasnt enough men out there on there subs. It was then i decided to move over to agency ( 3 weeks on the base then 6 weeks on board with no break) thank god for agency work – worked when and length of time when i wanted to.

A little bit of advice:- I presume your name is Andy Lane? Believe it or not mine isn’t Pied Piper. There are reasons people use nick names on this site, for some it’s a bit of a laugh, for others they can say things about their company that wouldn’t go down well using their real name. Others prefer their real name, horses for courses I suppose.
Now if your name is Andy Lane, who tells us that he is a former trainee looking to come back into the game, why then have you perpetuated the slagging off of an ops manager from Technip ? Also to a lesser extent the ops manager of Canyon ? Theres 2 doors closed already! You would be surprised who reads this website, ops managers, agency recruiters, etc and I don’t think the above statement will help you in your return into the industry, so it may be an idea to use an alias in future. You have told us through a couple of threads how good you are, now you may be an exception, but on the whole in my experience people who have to brag/boast about how good they are usually aren’t. As a trainee, like it or not you are at the bottom of the pile, maybe in another life you have had experience at a supervisory level, this doesn’t matter one bit, if you come back into ROV’s either get on with it and stop bleating, or stay out of it altogether.

    Aha, Mr lane,

I think our paths may have crossed in the past.

If you are said infamous Mr Lane, trainee from one of the agencies, then i fear you are maybe judging yourself a little too highly by merits of your recent posts, and you are maybe sporting a little more fart than poo poo, if you understand my direction.

If, like before, you ARE said Mr Lane, then I sincerely hope you have cured your aversion to putting on ones boilersuit and actually partaking in physical labour & manual graft on whatever ROV system& crew are unfortunate to have you dumped upon its goodself.

I also hope you have cured several of your "unknown" or "mysterious" illnesses on or around crewchange date, & my delicate fingers are indeed crossed that you are also cured of your your severe addiction to eBay and the fact you got ripped off on numerous occasions. (This generally happening when the rest of the crew are on deck amidst intensive repair or maintenance!)

Think before you type, slagging people off openly can cause you infinite problems as the offshore game, although worldwide, is rather insular & very quick in picking up names and capabilities, which frankly speaking, you only have a name and little capability if indeed you are aforementioned Mr Lane.

    I wish you every success.

Or, or course, it could be someone who knows said gentleman and is doing his darndest to make himself even more unpopular.

Oh the joys of the Internet where 19 year old blonde Debbie turns out to be 54 year old Igor from Bratislavia 😀 😀

Well rayshields has hit it on the head! Time to come clean. 😕 I do know this Andylane and he was on his first ever job when he came to us and i was the fortunate guy to have him under my wing. I think he had promise when he worked with me but it soon dwindled away after two weeks and if memory serves me right i could see he was getting p**sed off with the situation and with the supervisor. A nice enough guy but definatley not rov type. I use his handle thinking he was never a known quantity – wow was i wrong he obviously had a couple of more jobs after leaving us.
I think it might be wise to change only down to obviously the guy is gonna get slagged to high heaven.
