BTW I have no connections with the subject establishment, apart from we (Forum – Sub-Atlantic) provide some equipment to them for training purposes.

Read it in Oceanbuzz and just thought it was an interesting statistic that might be worth sharing.

    See below ……..

1.j) HALF OF ROV CLASS FIND EMPLOYMENT WITHIN A WEEK OF COMPLETING TRAINING
A leading subsea training centre has reported an increase in employment of their students, with 50% of one class being employed within a week of graduating. The Underwater Centre, Fort William, saw half of a recent ROV class employed by leading providers of subsea services to the oil and gas industry, DOF Subsea, following the company’s attendance at an open day at the Centre.
A DOF Subsea representative attended the open day at The Underwater Centre to see the results of significant investment and was impressed with the training and facilities, which has since led to the employment of the students. The four ex-students have been taken on as Trainee ROV Pilot Technicians, working as the third man in teams of three operating across the Atlantic Region.

Due to the success and demand of the open day the centre will be holding another one this spring. For more information about the next open day email Olivia@theunderwatercentre.co.uk

Statistics are great. 54% of people thing that 38% of statistics are 45% useful.

So DOF employed 4 Trainees is basically what it says.

Saying half a class gives the impression of an awful lot more, and also hints that it may be half of every class.

50% of people whose CVs I have put forward to my company successfully got a job. That means I’m as good as FW Centre πŸ™‚

(it was only 2 people out of 4 put in but the statistics make it sound soooo much better!)

Sorry but there are hundreds if not thousands of people who are still trying to get into the rov industry months if not years later after completing one of these courses .

But the schools still keep on turning them out knowing that there is very little chance they will find a job .
You only have to look on this forum for people who have done the course and cannot find a job .You would think by now people would learn but they still keep doing the course .

If companys want you they will train you other wise save your money .

Statistics also show that 90% of the people that arrive on jobs that have been through this centre are 100% shite, and should have spent there money on a nice holiday or car.

People with only a relevant technical qualifications to become an ROV pilot should only be allowed to take the course, if they dont have that the centre should say no and refuse them entry onto the course.
Bad for profits, good for the guys offshore who are sent the IMCA qualified PT 11’s……. 😳 😈
