    Hello everyone,

I am a student at the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Myself and a few classmates are currently developing an underwater trencher for our technical project due in April of this year. We are looking to use hydraulics; however, due to a limited budget we can not afford to buy an HPU (hydraulic power unit). We have a pump, motor, and reservoir, but none of these are submersible. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how we could make this work without going completely electric? Thanks everyone!

You can feed the hydraulics from the surface through hoses. This will allow you to use the motor etc that you already have. Many trenchers operate this way.
