    It would be a bit more specific if you stated details of the job requirements, vehicles to be used (assuming it is ROV personnel you want – you have not stated), vessel/rig, duration of trip etc.

    Rather than a vague "we need people" statement.

    This is how there hiring people now days ! Had a call the other day the conversation went some thing like this " Are you Available " Yes

    "We have a cable lay job going from Oregon to Alaska , We want you to fly out tomorrow " Ok How long is the job " Sorry Cant Tell You " ! ok whats the day rate " Sorry Cant tell you because you might tell some other agency about the job " Ok How long is the job For " Dont Know " Whats the vehicle "Cant Tell you "

    So they want people to go to the airport with very little details not even knowing rates , This is Crazy !

    Maybe there give you a sealed Envelope at check in like mission impossible !

    Just sent the OP an email on this:

    Thanks for adding your contact information to the job adverts you have posted however, your last advert is way too generic!

    This is a website predominantly for ROV and Inspection related personnel working in the subsea sector.
    Simply posting: ‘we require personnel with a petronas safety passport and medical‘ is not the way to do it I’m afraid. There is no clue as to what the work is.. Your statement covers anything from sweeping the deck, welding, cooking or ROV!!

    You should give job details, type of work, ROV system, duration, location and rate on offer etc.

    Recently, I also deleted a couple of job posts from AGR as no contact information was supplied. I PM’d the following to two people from the same organisation:

    Job requirements – insufficient contact information

    Please be advised that your post did not to meet with our Agency posting guidelines and has therefore been deleted from the Forum.

    Reason: There was insufficient contact information.

    The guidelines are clearly displayed in the agency section at:

    You may note that other agencies add the required contact information to the signature file in their profile. This save having to add it each time you posts.

    You have to start wondering if AGR are that slack on following a few simple forum rules how they would manage your travel and job arrangements followed by, more crucially… Pay!

    I agree Ray. This has been pulled from agency requirements and moved to ROV discussion then edited.

    I, like you, also wish to highlight that we do have certain requirements around here and will showcase any posts that ignore forum guidelines.

    This kind of thing does seem to becoming the norm, just like Raptor mentioned.

    The other thing I notice now is different people from the same agency emailing and calling about the same job………..NONE of them able or willing to answer the questions asked.

    AGR and IV seem to work like that ALOT. 4 or 5 emails from different "consultants" recruiting for the same position, then, pretty much an email from all the other agencies out there emailing about the same job. Getting a little out of control me thinks.

    Does a company ask EVERY agency out there to find crew or do the Agencies watch each others sites etc and re-post tehe job to secure it for themselves ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗

    As one of the Directors of AGR I would say that i am disappointed firstly by the original post from one of our young Personnel Coordinators but secondly by the reaction to it on here.

    I think the reaction has been over the top..

    As an agency working in the ROV sector it is a very competitive market and unfortunately it sometimes means not giving as much information as we would initially like.

    However i can guarantee as soon as a candidate has been accepted on a role full details will be given.

    As for staff retention and different people speaking with you guys off and on. Unfortunately as in all Sales environments if people are not up to the job they move on so new contacts are then brought in. Should you not wish to hear from any of our consultants by all means send me an email and i can remove you from our system.

    As webmaster, and owner of ROVworld for the last 13 years, I don’t see this as an ‘over reaction’ but a simply people venting their frustration due to a culmination of agencies over the years giving less and less information and expecting potential contractors to apply.

    Yes, I understand that you operate in a competative market, but then again so do the ROV & Inspection personnel that frequent this site.

    We have clear guidelines posted in both the operators and agencies employment sections. If people, posting job requirements, choose to ignore this guidelines their post will either be deleted or highlighted as a bad example such as happened here.

    In the last week I have had to send 1 email and 2 Private messages to members of AGR to correct their posts… Reasons? No contact information (other than an email address) on two occasions, and this last post which totally ignored our guidelines altogether and was a pretty poor post at best.

    I am more than happy to see any potential employer post their requirements here, but please read the guidelines or ensure that your employees do before they post.
