I have 4 years experience in the ROV field. Looking towards getting a overseas position and would like to get some of the experience individuals out there on a couple of subjects. 1. How should I get my contract setup(some of the do’s and don’ts). Anything in general I should look for when accepting jobs. ❓

1…. crew change security ..make sure the company has a decent system in dodgy places like west africa etc

2…dont go direct with companies with bad payment records,,,,,,,,,or get an agency between you and them….

    Chad,

With regards to a contract, write down a few one liners that you would need to tick YOUR boxes.

DO find out the following before you leave the house.
Any reasonable company will happily give you the information.

    1. Scope of work – Vessel/system
    2. What is the min/max duration of contract
    3. Rate per day or hour (Overtime rates also)
    4. What insurances will be in place for you
    5. Door to door as already mentioned – full offshore rate as well
    6. Medical cover in place?
    7. Emergecy 24hr contact #
    8. Any demobs due (equipment)
    9. What currency will I be paid in? Watch the conversion rates
    10. Where will I be paid from? Singapore, Guernsey, Nigeria.
    11. What is the food like!

DON’T – Accept anything that comes in from a little known organisation.

DO – your homework and research or ask on these forums if in doubt.

DO – respect other peoples country, religion, etc, even if you don’t necessarily follow.

DO – Enjoy the craic ❗
