For many years we have all be using Scotcast I was wondering if there was any alternatives , Many of the vehicle builders now use a oil box but with smaller vehicles this is not possible .

A few years ago I did come across a splicing compound called Zipper tube it came in a plastic cartridge that fitted a standard silastic gun the supply in Aberdeen was in called Circle Offshore , I have checked Google + Yahoo but can no longer find them , Any Thoughts from any body ?

I also came across a few years ago the 2 tube system were the mixing the 2 compounds was done in the nozzle so after use you just changed the Nozzle and could keep what was left in the tube for some other job unlike Scotcast were you binned what was left .

Now the company that supplyied this was PU Resin U.W. contact details was :-
    info@technosytemsitalia.it web site http://www.ipz-group.com.it

I have tried to contact them but had no luck so was wondering if any member of this forum knew of a supplier .

Like I said it comes with a double cartridge gun with 2 tubes with compound A + B feeding a mixing Nozzle .

If any body has come across this system or any other resins please let me know .

    Cheers

Try Hydrobond Engineering in Aberdeen, they also have kits.

Both might also try and sell you the 3M scotchcast again as an option, a few years ago Hydrobond had another brand in a 2 part mix that was cold cure.

Circle offshore moved out of Aberdeen a few years ago, I think it was Hallin that moved into their premises. Circle moved to Kintore I believe and may have been bought over…

Thanks Kalbo yes I had a feeling that they had moved since could not find them on the net . All I remember about Zipper tube was it went off in 10 minutes and it was pink and I think it was made in the states .

Just waiting for a reply from PDM Neptec regarding P U resin + I will check out Hydrobond Engineering in Aberdeen and see what they have .

    Cheers

RS have a range of two-pack products very similar to Scotch-Cast and not that expensive, made by Electrolube.

Didn’t check cable moulds but possibly there also.

Didn’t see your operating depth but generally had good results with Scotch 23 (self-amalg) tape and Scotch-Kote, certainly up to 200 metres. *Read the MSDS for the Scotch-Kote.

2-pack epoxy and innnovative use of a plastic water bottle, scissors and tape can also yield good results.

    Adapt, improvise and over-come!

    Good luck!

Thanks sitrep69 for your input and sorry for the delay to reply , All ok on a similar Resin made by Electrolube and sold by RS , Yes I have had reply’s from hydrogroup + teledyne but most only do the standard pack type same as Scotchcast .

This is why the double tube idea was good as there was no waste you just changed over the Nozzle and keep the compound for any future projects .

So watch this space for any future updates .

    Cheers
