Number of ROV’s in operation worldwide

In 1994 it was estimated that there were approx. 3000 ROV’s in operation from approx. 100 operators worldwide.
Does anyone have any confirmed info on the estimated numbers of ROV’s and operating companies there are today in operation?

Other wise spend 14 hours a day on the internet searching . But its a question that no body can answer because it changes very fast From Micro all the way up to UHD systems .

I recall there is some think tank that publishes such info from time to time and makes the results public. Can’t find it at the moment. If you dig deep enough online something will come up I reckon.
