    In August 2013, a helicopter crashed in the North Sea killing four oil rig workers. It was the fifth serious incident involving Super Pumas in as many years. Survivors talk about what happened…….

    I agree.

    Also, what is pretty sad is (as far as I recall) Norway flies the same choppers for more hours each year and has far less incidents. Clearly something is not quite right with the UK sector in that respect. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has intervened and made some further recommendations to try and improve safety. Seating number reductions (whereby people must be seated next to a means of escape from 1st June) is one of them.

    Unfortunately, damage has already been done… it’ll take years to convince offshore workers (those on the Rigs/Platforms) that flying choppers in the UK sector is safe once more.
