I want to make the MTCS ROV Pilot Technician Induction Course in Singapore.
    Is this a good choice?

Can i just work afterwards offshore to gain experience?

Or should I make the ROV Pilot Technician Grade 2 immediately?

    What do you think?

It really doesn’t work like that……. How would you feel if you needed brain surgery and the doctor was fresh out of training school, would you be happy for him to perform surgery?

You need to research the threads on here and assess your previous experience in electronics, electrics, hydraulics, mechanical etc. If you think you can hold your own, join a very, very long queue to get into the game. It’s not impossible but you must be realistic to avoid bitter disappointment.

    As the course says, Induction.

You are not an ROV Pilot Technician of any grade after doing one course. There is no such qualification.

ROVs are technical bits of equipment, you need to have the appropriate technical bacground, qualifications and experience to get a start. You dont learn to be an ROV Pilot until you get a job as one.

Hence companies take trainees on for their technical background. You must start with that first.

There are also thousands of people out there chasing a handful of jobs. Please read through the other messages on here, especially in the Rookie section, as many of your questions have already been answered over and over again.

Well after doing a course you are signed of as Pilot Tech 11 its as simple as that. Time this takes most providers is 10 DAYS.

So basically any course provider does as so!!!!!!

Being Signed off as a Pilot Tech 11 allows a company to hirer you as a Trainee, with full protection of the competence scheme for ROV’s.

And to provide this course to Pilot Tech 11 my understanding is that any Registered IMCA company involved in ROV’s can do as such with a Trainer.

Call it what ever you want that’s what happens being a PT2 allows you to gain experience and work on competence scheme to be signed off as a PT1 in 1 year plus.

    It happens just like that.

    Thank you for your answers.

I have a technical background. I also have experience in the industry and I am self-employed for 17 years.

But I have a strong sake of doing it!

My weakness is the liquid spoken language. But I hope there is enough practical experience.

    Thanks 😉
