SpearROV
ParticipantIt appears to me that Oceaneering are not the only company that has problems !
Take Sonsub Singapore for instance !
A load of old farts with out dated ideas .
Has anybody else had the same experience at Sonsub working with Grandads ?August 4, 2007 at 9:05 pm #13040polo
ParticipantInteresting comment, but I am confused as to the subject matter , vehicles or management? During the last year have come accross a number of people who regard both items as outdated, this can only be a personal feeling but the number of times that a number of these larger companies are trying to recruit agency staff has increased quite significantly. Maybe it is a sign of the times as both OI and Sonsub used to be the best in Singapore and now dont seem to get too much favourable reports on this and other sites.

ParticipantSo what is the problem with them then ?
It seems you had a run in with a particular person over thereAugust 14, 2007 at 9:13 am #13042offshoredog
ParticipantWell, Sonsub Singapore is still tops in Asia. Not sure what you really heard, maybe you want to expnd on that. Equipment is not as new as in GOM or North Sea but guys are great and get the job done.

ParticipantThey are certainly not top when it comes to day rates
Fugro-Rovtech Singapore pay higher day rates.August 14, 2007 at 9:30 am #13044Andy Shiers
ParticipantFrom what I understand , and this is only what I heard mind you , correct me if I’m wrong 🙂 Most of the Sonsub Singapore personnel are either Philipinos or Australians which means the rates paid are in keeping with the locals so do not expect decent rates in that part of the world 😯

ParticipantRespect for personnel is something Sonsub Singapore do well. I am looking forward to hearing the latest in-date ROV postings that SpearROV gives in the future 😀
Sonsub Singapore is right now one of the best ROV companies to work for.
The turnover is very low and positions for regular crew are very hard to get…even today. If you have several excellent offshore hands staying longer than 10 years then you’re doing something right. They were the first to spend money on training simulators, first in Asia to match North Sea rates. First to seek out people of excellence and provide them well maintained and crewed ROV’s. First to support guys offshore with dedicated onshore tech support team…say that with your hand over your heart with other companies… 😆

ParticipantI take it you are on salary with them Trainee ?

Participant😈 Trainee, I think you are comparing Sonsub rates with last years North Sea rates as last I heard Singapore office was paying Supervisors USD 700 p/day thats well below NS rates and I believe Geo Subsea is paying more than that, so unless Sunsub has put there rates up again they are not quite there.
As for well maitained kit……….not from what I’ve seen, are any of your vehicles running with fibre yet?
Yes you have a number of guys who have been there a long time but so has Canyon in Singapore and there kit is pretty much second to none in Asia, their gear is fairly new or most of it anyway, same goes for Gesubsea, alot of new kit with more to come. TS marine just started up in Asia and have new kit.
SpearROV has some good points although he probable stepped on too many of those Old Fart’s toes and got passed over.Just an outsiders opinion!!!

ParticipantSo what you are saying Ozsub is that the rates are not as good as they are paying anywhere else and the "Kit" is old and that there ARE Old farts at Sonsub Singapore 😀

ParticipantSonsub Singapore pay up to US$750 for Supervisors. Still not up to North Sea rates but getting there.
