This is one carried over from the old forum

‘Loyang Offshore supply base’, where most of the offshore activity starts, is a short taxi ride from Changi Airport. (about Sing$ 6 or 7)
By the way… some people may not know this… the MRT station at Changi Airport has been operational for about 6 months now. It’s also the closest one to Loyang.

If you are on a tight(ish) budget then use the MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) system to get around most of Singapore.
Buy an EZ-Link card from any MRT station ticket office… Sing$15.00 will get you going.
You can top up the card at most stations, if you need to.
To use the card just hold it flat over the sensor at the entry point. (Doesn’t work in the slot)
    That will:
    a) tell you how much is on your card and
    b) let you onto the platform.

On exit it’s the same deal in reverse.
How much is left, after your journey, and lets you out.

I think you can use it on the buses as well, although I haven’t tried.

Sometimes the MRT stations aren’t quite situated where you need to go… so get close and jump a bus or a taxi for the rest.
If you are in Loyang, and need to get down town, get a taxi to the airport and jump on the MRT there.

James, just thought I’d add a couple of points to your post: ;D
The locals know the MRT tickets as the “Tap and Go” card/ticket, you can get 2 types ie. “EZ-Link” card is for multi-rides and the “Standard Ticket” is for a single trip.
Yes the EZ-Link card can be used on buses in the same way, Tap on the scanner and Go.
Also there are surcharges on Taxis if you phone one to pick you up from anywhere and from the airport too.
Keep up the good work, your site makes good reading. 😮

    Hi James

It is about S$2.40 to S$3.00 to call for cab. And if I am right it is about S$5.00 at the airport depends on the time factor… And if you take cab after 12midnight there is a midnight charge of 1.5 times……
Next year, the good and service tax will be going up to 5% ….. 😀

    James,

The bus system in Singas is rather extensive. The tap/go cards are convenient and can be purchased just about anywhere. The drawback with the bus system is the peak hours. It advisable to use the MRT (which can also be like a can of sardines) during the peak hours.

or stick to taxis, ROV don’t do public transport. Taxis easy and cheap.
