    Reminds me of a similar incident when i was on the Cable Retriever in Deep Water Bay , Hong Kong. We were trying to locate a fault on the TVH (Thailand/Vietnam/Hong Kong) , commenced grap run at the predetermined area of fault , 82 grap runs later , still no sign …..Couldnt find hide nor hair of it with the ROV so the divers followed it out by hand from the shore end and found it neatly cut with an angle grinder! A visit to the ship by the Hong Kong police informed us that it was the local fishermen who would have hoped to locate one of the old analogue (copper) cables rather than the 3.7Kms of relativley worthless (scrap wise) fibre optic cable. A couple of memorable runs ashore in Kowloon and Wan Chai!
