OK, here’s one for anyone working in deep water (in excess of 2000m preferrably) and has a USBL system aboard.

Looking at trying to verify a numerical model at the moment for a TMS drifting from the launch point in the presence of cross-currents, etc.

If anyone is onboard at the moment with a TMS in the water (need to know the vehicle and TMS type so I can model that!!) – can you just measure the distance of your TMS from the launch point.

Competition is to see who has the largest drift when the system is passive in the water. If you could get the DP current from bridge that may help, but if you have an ACDP onboard, that’d be better!

Even better still, if you have stationkeep or something like that on board with a current profiler – then could you measure the current at vehicle too?

Awhile back had a drift of 80 m astern in 1100 msw. The guys were freaking out. P/line survey…
