    The company works mostly for the Marine Institute carrying out scientific and fishery protection work. There is a wide variety of equipment and sensors used on the vessels. Primarily the two vessels are the Celtic Explorer and the Celtic Voyager.

    About the Business
    P&O Maritime Services (P&OMS) is a global company providing specialist maritime service solutions through ownership, operation and management of a fleet of specialised vessels for customer’s long term requirements.

    About the Role
    This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Instrumentation Team. Reporting to the Instrumentation Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of instrumentation support services onboard the Marine Institute Research Vessels. The role also involves the support of IT & communication equipment, as well as operation, upkeep, maintenance and repair of scientific instrumentation on board vessels and at company offices.

    This role will require significant amounts of time at sea during the year.

    Qualifications/Skills/Experience
    Suitable candidates will ideally have the following:
    • A 3rd Level qualification in Electronic Engineering or Marine Electronics or related fields.
    • 3 years experience in the test/maintenance of marine/scientific electronic equipment.
    • Seagoing experience
    • Be computer literate & very familiar with PC based systems.
    • A dynamic, flexible and operationally focussed individual.
    • An ability to work under their own or minimal supervision.
    • An open disposition, good organisational & communication skills
