I dont know if this is some thing old or new as not worked over in Holland for some time but just seen this on the website of Nederlandse Vereniging van Beroepsduikers (NVB)

The Dutch law stipulates that a diver/rov-pilot-technician from whatever country he is from, is allowed to only work 11 days offshore in Dutch waters, at a time!

But and I do love this part if you join NVB you can work 28 days in a row .

However, the law also provides a solution for this matter by way of a special agreement. The NVB has signed this agreement with the NADO (Dutch association of diving companies, click for a full list of all NADO members). The agreement allows members of the NVB to work in Dutch waters for 28 days in a row. So if you become a member of the NVB you can work longer offshore without braking the law.

A special task force has been formed to check all diving companies and divers to see if they do not brake the law! And the fines are heavy!

So do yourself a favour and become a member of the NVB, to join simply send an email to us with you contact details and make a payment of € 60 bankdetails.

Well whats next in the way to get more money out of you .

    Cheers

They also have the highest / expensive standards for diving vessels, there are only a few vessels that can work the dutch sector.

Rotterdam is a good run ashore though

This may be old rules/regulations as they would not be allowed to do this for any employee from a fellow EU country.

e.g. same rules have to apply to someone from the Uk/France/Denmark as they do to someone from Holland. Anyone from the EU can work anywhere they want elsewhere in the EU.

Once you are allowed to work within the Netherlands, the following (summarized) working time regulations for diving- and ROV related work apply when working offshore the Netherlands:

As of 2007 new (EU) working time regulations came into effect limiting the working time to 60 hrs/wk / 11 consecutive days per offshore trip followed by a compensatory rest period onshore.

However, an annually renewable Memorandum of Agreement between the NVB, NADO diving/ROV companies, Unions and the regulatory body allows vessel based diving- and ROV personnel to work 121 days in a 26 week period offshore in a maximum 28 consecutive days / 70 hrs/wk followed by a compensatory rest period onshore scheme.

    In a nutshell:

    – All freelancers working through any NADO diving- or ROV company are automatically allowed to work offshore under the relaxed scheme
    – All members of the NVB are automatically allowed to work offshore under the relaxed scheme
    – Non NADO diving- or ROV companies require an agreement with the regulatory body prior to commencing any offshore diving- or ROV operations to allow working under the relaxed scheme
    – Freelancers need to verify whether non-NADO diving- or ROV companies have an in-date agreement in place. If not, individual agreements are required
    – Non-compliance may result in fines both for the diving- / ROV company and the individual freelancer
    – Without an agreement in place, the initial working time regulations scheme applies , i.e. the 11 days maximum period
    – Additional working time conditions apply. Full details may be obtained via Dutch governmental and EU websites
    – A listing of NADO diving- / ROV companies is available at the http://www.nado.nu website
    – The NVB website will be updated shortly to clear up any misunderstandings

As of 2007 new (EU) working time regulations came into effect limiting the working time to 60 hrs/wk / 11 consecutive days per offshore trip followed by a compensatory rest period onshore.

So if you are on a rig you are only allowed to work for 5 days doing 12 hour shifts or do an 11 day trip?

That may be how the Dutch work for their own people, but other EU members working there don’t. Who tracks what people work and how do they tell companies they need to send people home?
