Would be interested from new and old hands of their experiences of crew changes around the world.

In ME at the moment, and the logistics of office and agents is a joke! Have been landed in a certain port area, or dumped by the agent, and now living in a container with other unknown people for 5 days, little food and no contact with the company! Apparently this is the norm, once the agent has dumped you in the port, you cannot get out, and then wait until the vessel arrives..if it arrives.
Superb set up…in the biggest country within the Oil and Gas sector, and major client!
But on the plus side i am sure i will be on 50% travel day rate until i get on the vessel!!! 🙄

Any other horror stories out there?? 😯

    Name and shame.

It’s the only way to get things to change.

Lets just say it is a major company in Saudi Arabia!

No, it is NOT normal and should not be tolerated.

    Agree Ray,

It should not be tolerated, but it happens without warning. But if a office employs 2 idiots that are ex tourism sector ratings and are now running the Logistics out here it is no surprise! Some of the personnel coming out here on the job are a joke, and it is obvious that the logistics who rubber stamp these Cv’s have no clue what the difference is between the trades of a project crew.

I have seen lads topping up the moon pool, Divers asking if they surface the bell if they need to go to the toilet, and asking their peers if they can take 40kg into the chamber as they have a seamans book!….i will not begin to start with the ROV side of things out here..it would make you cringe!!!

Unfortunately the expression of "That’s just the way it is" has creeped in!

A certain company called PMS in Saudi fouled up a crew change and I spent 5 days on a crew boat ….not very funny and I got paid for those 5 days or the extra 2 days in transit either and saudi immigration were furious with the agants …… that was 4 years ago. i was not the only one with such problems

You must name and shame ,,,,,, Saudi uthorities kicked PMS back to egypt the following year for all their screwups and PMS lost £44m that Aramco witheld .

PMS are on my blacklist .

Sounds exactly the same here LJ, the usual 4 hours in immigration at the airport, whilst the officer goes for his 3 hour smoko break, and then a 3 hour drive to a certain port, dumped off and the agent on his toes.
Would not like to name and shame at present till i get home…and out the country. The same with the crew boats, 3-4 days here sailing around the fields as a taxi service, and they wonder why lads do not come back here!
