Where have you seen the Fugro job? I’ve been looking around for months and only seen one with DOF, nothing from any of the others.

Just assume their all recruiting then, try and get a contact within each of the companies and touch base with them every so often. Not much more you can do after that really.( myself included)

I have found this to be an extremely difficult industry to get in to, even with contacts at some of the larger companies. They all want experience, but none are willing to give it in the form of a trainee position. I will continue to hit my head against a wall until I get a job though.

If like at Technip the inbox is full of CV’s from trainees, you better off following the comment above. Most companies only advertise if they do not have CV’s. With a steady trickle this is something they do not need to do.

The advert in the paper I believe was for experienced personnel, not trainees.

There is no need to advertise for them, there are more than enough people sending in CVs already

The key to this is perseverance. Companies will be bombarded by CV’s on a regular basis from trainees, the next person to be booked will quite often be the last person they received rather than the best option available (although they will always want to see that you are capable as well). I would suggest you send your CV across to them every Monday and/or Friday. It may seem like you are “over egging” the cake but you wouldn’t be the only one doing this so you may as well be in the running.

Please don’t be lead to believe that by constantly reminding people of your name, they will get fed up of hearing from you. Quite the contrary, yours will be the name that sticks in the mind and will therefore be the first they think of when they have a requirement.

Ray is correct. Companies tend not to advertise for something if they have an abundance of riches to hand already.

    Good luck.
