Other than Oceaneering, what companies are currently operating Nigeria and other west Africa?

Probably all the them – in some manner or other.

Heard even STS had some work down there.

Sonsub has a load of Niheria work at present. For some strange reason, they can’t seem to get any personnel.

Is that a hint for some of the newbies here?
Could that be because Sonsub don’t pay a decent rate? or are they not that great of a company to work for. Any one from sonsub care to enlighten us?

Sonsub and other companies probably can’t get personnel to work in Nigeria as some people take their lives more importantly than making some nice money. πŸ˜€ This is the reason that crew changes happen in ghana and togo etc. In fact anywhere but port harcourt or lagos!!

West Africa is a long term reality for most major oil companies. Oil companies recover energy regardless of location. You can choose cold rough seas or warm flat-calm seas. The money paid to date in WA has been better for minimal increase in risk for most service hands. Sonsub have four systems with at least one MSV working in the AKPO field. They are crew-changing either though Cameroon or EG and flying Air France. No security β€œissues” or HSE concerns to date. For hands not familiar with location there will always be an emotive response that may not balance with actual risk present.
