The job I have now is more onshore than off. The headaches are mad. You get grief from above and below, slightly less money than full time offshore and less time off. You then get hassle when you are off and find downtime with the family being lost every time you go home.
However it is nice to try a nine to five job for a change well 7:30-6 most days but to sleep in a bed that is not moving around and having a choice of what you eat and a beer at the end of each day is quite appealing.
If I ever do go back to fulltime offshore I know now what is happening on the other end of the phone so I can honestly say I will not be giving the guy in the office crap knowing what he/she is going through.
