i have a interview with seatronics coming up soon for a trainee survey systems engineer position.

can someone tell me the difference between a survey systems engineer and a ROV pilot/tech?

and does anyone know if this job will be mainly working at a computer or more hands on?

Survey engineer is at a computer. You will get to install survey equipment on the ROV, keep transponders fresh, etc. Other than that you monitor ROV and vessel position, maybe responsible for recording ROV video. You will never fly, repair or have anything to do with the ROV system as a survey eng. Good luck.

thanks! i am currently a marine electrician, would this not be a good step forward towards ROVs ? i have already tryed to get a traineeship as a pilot/tech but cant seem to get anywhere as the markets well saturated

It is a step closer but with your electrical background you should be able to open the door to an ROV trainee position. The markets will open up a lot around April/May and every ROV company will be short handed. FYI
