As there seems to have been an outbreak of questions over abbreviations, here’s a link to a site useful for definitions of abbreviations and other oil and gas terminology.

πŸ™„ Hi everybody…. BTW – 2 or more capital letters are called acronyms.

    Definition:
    Acronym
    n. A word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women’s Army Corps, or by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as radar for radio detecting and ranging.

    abΒ·breΒ·viΒ·aΒ·tion (ə-brē’vē-ā’shən) Pronunciation Key
    n.

    1. The act or product of shortening.
    2. A shortened form of a word or phrase used chiefly in writing to represent the complete form, such as Mass. for Massachusetts or USMC for United States Marine Corps.

NOTE: the dictionary folks here forgot to put all stops between the letters U.S.M.C.!!!!

Except on the homepage on the website it reads:

"This is a guide to Britain written for Americans who may be planning a visit here. Use this guide to help you become familar with the many complex, sometimes strange customs of the British People."

One would think to impress us dumb cousins that it should be "…. a guide to Britain’s written English….." πŸ˜‰
