    Hi guys,

What do you think, what future do we have in ROV industry? I didn’t work for the whole year, I just spent the last money to update my offshore certificates but there is no work. It’s high season and no work at all. No calls, no messages – nothing. Stone dead 🙁
Of course, I’m sending my CV to agencies and operators but all that I have is "Thank for your CV".
I have over 1000 hours but, actually, I’m ready to work for trainee salary as my children want to eat.
Would the industry grow in the nearest future (I mean one year period) or it’s better to forget and to find something onshore for much less money?

I understand that there is no new projects for drilling, pre-engeneering survey and so on, but it should be IRM work for O&G industry, it should be some work for wind farms…

P.S. Please, advise, do they have any IRM work with ROV for wind farms? As I worked only for cable-laying for the wind industry and didn’t hear anything about IRM for wind farms.

Thanks and good luck to all!

Your situation is very similar to the majority of people that have been working in the ROV industry

The number of new offshore positions will probably be few and far between (if at all)

Those that are still working are most likely on existing contracts or simply the ‘best person’

I would look for an alternative industry or start an online and/or physical business

Renewing certification is probably a waste of money (a gamble at best)
