    Hi all

I wonder what is common practice concerning recruitment procedure.
In particular, are interviews systematically required? Since I’m living in France, but contacting companies all around the world (nearly), I wonder also wether they pay for your journey in case of an interview.

Alternatively, is it a practice to carry interviews through internet by MSN or Skype? Has anyone such an experience?

I’m new in ROV world, but not in industrial, and when I had to travel for some interviews, my tickets have been paid all the time when it was a consequent journey.

in my case, I never had a personal interview. they reviewed my credentials and asked for my reference. but I am sure this isnt the case for all since my colleagues were required to be in an interview in person. Most of the job offers to me also did not ask/require for an interview (too bad I already have a job)

I had a french classmate who personally got interviewed and nailed a job in france (he’s from Marseille).

    goodluck 😉

ok. So do you mean that the contacts you had were at best by telephone?
Then you got your plane ticket and arrived straight ahead on site?

Where did you sign your contract? on site?

That’s because you had already references in the ROV industry I suppose.

i signed then sent my contract by post and emailed them some forms to fill up when I was still in Scotland last December, we communicated by email, finished my offshore medical, and waited for the work details. I guess we only communicated by email and not by phone because of time difference. I live in the Philippines and my employer is based in Scotland.

I still havent left for job yet but I’m scheduled end of this month. 😉
