Its no good just finishing a course in the Phils and sending emails to the companies. You will have to show alot more get up and go than that.Anyone can sit at home and fire emails off.I spent 2 months pounding the pavements of singapore everyday and knocking on doors of the companies to get my foot in the door.Dont waste your time firing off emails, you will be wasting your time……

Anyone whoknows an email address and has some sort of qualifications/experience can fire off a few emails…
    (1) follow it up with a phone call….
    (2) be really nice to the receptionist (providing they are female of course)….
    (3) sell ureself. Dont over sell…but keep it reasonable.

Take this onboard and don’t forget: It’s harder for a person to flick you off over the phone than it is to ignore an email. Keep your name in contention…establish networks…persist!

    good luck 🙂

Let’s see lads (and Elad, not a word, not a peep)….

In the last 28 years of ROVdom, I’ve had 6 bad years… I mean REEEEAAAL skint. I was so broke, I couldn’t pay attention! Seriously, ladies and germs, I think it was 1991 – I worked 89 m…effin’ days only that year – was building a palatial house, the building materials costs were spiraling upward….. Are you bored yet??????????????????????????????? Well, I sure arffin’ am!!!! I was lugging around 50kg. rice sacks on my back whilst waiting for some of this scum that call themselves management (hehe… no brown-nosin’ here!!!) to get off their high-horses/ ivory friggin’ towers / bridges / etc. AND bloody take me on with my experience and high (ish) dayrate.

Right, let’s cut to the chase…. seems like this generation x… or y…. or whatever tag the touchy – feeley people in today’s PCorrect industry feel that the world owes them a heap in their not-so-many-years on the planet whining-whingin’ attitude. Shoheb… blah…blah (sounds like your handle is a name from an area I have no desire to ever work in again…) and Brigs ONLY 2 months of pounding pavement??? Boys, this time / era is the most work you’ll ever see IF you can’t get a job during this boom time then perhaps you guys (and not only you 2) should consider taking a used-car salesman course and b _ _ _ sh _ t your way in like a good majority of the guys in the ROV industry

What other qualifications/experience do you have besides the ROV course in the Philipines?

The is ROV course is not thought by many people and companies to be very good and it will not count for a great deal in helping you get a job. You need to have an electrical/electronic or hydraulic qualification AND EXPERIENCE in order to get a job. There are many thousands of people out there trying to get a job offshore and in ROVs. As long as they have more experience and qualifications than you, you will struggle to find a job.

Again, doing an ROV training course on its own will NOT get you a job (no matter what they tell you)

    Good luck.

    Scotbev, well said.
I am getting fed up with constantly training people who have nothing to give us back. I am not talking about kids here! These are the so called "Professionals". HaHa gies a laugh. 😀
Welcome to the real world 😈

Sorry! PS, I need to add a bit
Back in the old days, gadgers who came into the ROV game were generally ex dive techs or tradesmen with a bit of savvy. These days it seems to attract everybody and anybody who thinks it is an easy way to earn a bob or two. People outside seem to think "Roving" is an easy touch. 👿
