    Hi People,
I am looking at doing the ROV Course, and am seeking information/advice on which Course offered by the 2 companies is the better course.
The 2 places are:- Submec (Phillipines) and WA Maritime Training Centre ( Fremantle)

    Thanks 😛

If you are in the Asia region also try http://www.cynergetix.com and go to the link to the ROV training school

Are you not considering the Underwater Centre, Scotland?

And if he is coming all the way over there is also MTCS who are cheaper for the same piece of paper which in the majority of cases is not needed these days.

    G’Day Desertrat35

I Just completed the course at Fremantle TAFE which cost $8400 😯 plus $200 😯 for a Maratime Security I’d Card (MSIC) which you require to work offshore in Australian waters, and also you require a UKOOA Medical ($150) 😯 to get done so as to do the BOSIET section of the course.
The course in itsself was very intense 6 days a week start at 7 and end on completion for 3 weeks. As every one else has said this is only an insite for the ROV industrie and some people out there don’t like these courses and some do. But that all comes down to personal preferences. To do the course in Fremantle you need the trade background or sent by the company. To get on the course you get panneled by some industry people and hopefully get picked as one of the eight lucky candidates. 8)

I personally found the course in Fremantly very informative but bearing in mind it will only be an overview of what you do with enough information not to look hopefully like a NUMPTY 🙁 when you get out there. Having a Mech background I struggled with electrics at the start but now know enough to go and get some exta courses to brush up. 😕

You could also go to the Phillipines apparently it is cheaper but I have also heard some stories but then I can’t prove or dis-prove so to me they are just stories. 😉

With the Freo course the instructor invited some of the people from the industry to come in and give their insight and that was very informative. We also got to go and have a look at some of the companies on the Perth area. 8)

So now the choice is up to you. 8)

    Have fun

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for your responses. My background is 18 yrs in aviation as a avionics technician on Instrument, Radio, Navigation and Electrical Equipment. I have been mainly working with military aircraft and am currently working as Supervisor of Navigation/Communications Workshop in Middle East. Doing the course i was hoping would improve my chances of gaining employment in the ROV Industry. I have been sending my resume out to various companies, but having no joy.
Any suggestions whether the course is a good idea for me? Or whether i should just keep banging on doors with my resume?

    Cheers 🙄
