Overview of the company:
A specialist company, focused on subsea bed data gathering for engineering, geotechnical and scientific studies, with offices in Houston, Sydney and Singapore.
By developing and utilising new technology, this company is able to produce high quality samples and conduct in situ strength testing offshore. Due to their innovation and high quality services provided to their clients, they have experienced rapid growth, and are looking to add to their enthusiastic and proactive staff: a Junior Geotechnical Engineer and an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer.Overview of the roles:
Junior Geotechnical Engineer
This role involves working in a team towards post processing and delivery of field data. You will be able to interpret laboratory testing programs, as well as prepare both factual and interpretive reports. With this, you will also be capable of undertaking geotechnical design tasks and assist in the creation of new and innovative tools and equipment.Requirements:
Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, or similar
Basic knowledge and understanding of geotechnical logging and related terms
Theoretical knowledge in core logging, CPTu, Vane Shear, SCPT testing
High level of written and spoken communication skillsIt would also be an asset to you to have experience in geotechnical laboratory testing programs, previous offshore geotechnical experience, and/or valid offshore training certifications.
Offshore Geotechnical Engineer
This role will see you as a key member of the geoscience team, with both onshore and offshore responsibilities, including; mentoring, management and operations activities, whilst at all times maintaining the high health and safety standards of the company.Responsibilities:
Offshore activities:
When offshore you will be responsible for function testing of in situ tools, processing of core samples and post processing of in situ test data. With this you will provide progress reporting of core sample processing to other geotechnical engineers, as well as mentoring and training other geotechnical engineers.Onshore activities:
As well as providing supervision, direction and training to the geotechnical team, you will:
Assist in the development of work procedures
Consistently uphold appropriate geotechnical standards
Provide project support to offshore teams
Actively participate in the design of new tools and sampling equipment
Contribute to the mobilisation and demobilisation, as well as maintenance of equipment used in offshore operations
Requirements:
Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, or similar
Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing programs
Prior offshore geotechnical experience
Ability to lead and manage teams
Valid offshore training certifications (such as BOSIET).These positions allow you to have a direct impact on the success and culture of this rapidly expanding company, in a challenging and rewarding environment.
