    Hi
I am selected for the ROV course offered at Challenger Tafe Fremantle Perth for the November intake. Can anybody tell me how much one can expect to earn in Australia as a Trainee.
Also is it true that almost everybody who did this course form Challenger Tafe managed to secure job in the past?

    Please advice
    Thanks

Apparently it’s 80 odd percent of students secure jobs within the first few months. Unless you live in perth, work with an australian company is difficult to come by. The usual trainee wage starts at 600 AUD/day.
As stressed by many in the past, read up on the forums before asking about work rotations in australia and company contacts. You will get a lot of info from Bill Evans (bloke who runs the course) and tour through 2 or 3 rov workshops. Treat the course as a ticket into the industry.
    Good luck

    G’Day

I did the course in March April this year and for me it was very informative especially if you have never been to sea or on an Oil rig. The course should be used as an insight as to what is required of you as a trainee the good bad and every thing else. Bill does a good job but al he does is put your CV out to all and sundry and it is up to you to chase things up. It took me a week and a half to get employment with the industry and am really enjoying the challenge.

Bill goes on and on about Attitude out there and he is 100% correct if you go out with how much I am going to make etc you won’t go far. Yes there is money out there and it varies as Trainnes from about $600 a day to even $900 a day. But just cause it is more doesn’t mean lots of work either.
As elad1986 said read the fourms to get an idea of what to expect. Do the workshop tours and be attentive and go armed with questions even if you need to do some digging on the net.

Anyway if you want more info about the course PM

    Have fun

Yes, it makes a difference, read the posts about most of the other "schools". IF you have to do one then TAFE is the one. My opinion. You will see that Bill Evans has posted on here a few times, so has Paul from TUWC for that matter.

I also think you will find that "as long as i certify the PT course accredited from the IMCA ?" is a crock of do do!!!!!!!!! 😳 😯 😕 Read the post’s and do some more research, Ray has mentioned this one so often I am sure he says it in his sleep 😡

Good luck, what ever you do, but make sure you have the background, especially now things WILL slow down, and pretty quickly at that.

    Later
