Tribesmen in Malaysiaβs Sarawak state have reportedly rescued two surveyors who became lost in the jungle five days ago while mapping a route for a new gas pipeline.
Ismail Salleh and Rano Sani went missing last week from a 50-strong team surveying a route for the proposed 3 billion ringgit ($850 million) Sabah-Sarawak gas pipeline, AFP reported.
Semi-nomadic Penan tribesmen found the men while hunting in Saturday, the news service quoted the local Sunday Star newspaper as saying.
"How they got lost is still a puzzle. We will interview them soon, but the good news is that they are not hurt," local police chief Jonathan Jalin was quoted as saying.
The 500-kilometre pipeline will link fields near the town of Bintulu in Sarawak to Kimanis in Sabah. The provinces lie in the Malaysian sector of the island of Borneo.
