products. Power will be supplied from Set of Lithium batteries.
This thing wil have four wheels each with a separate motor drive requirements for the motor are the following:

    Technical requirements
1.1 Self-propelled mechanism has four wheels, each wheel has separate motor
1.2 Range of working temperatures 0-50°C.
1.3 Power will be supplied from constant current source with voltage 24 V (current will depend on type of selected motor).
1.4 Total weight of the crawler with the equipment installed will be approximately 250 kg
    1.5 Explosion proof design
1.6 Requirements to dimensions of the motor
    – length 100-150 mm (without shaft)
1.7 Velocity of the crawler should be adjustable within the range 0-1000 m/hour, diameter of wheels 200-350 mm.
1.8 Maximal negotiable distance on one set of batteries should be 14 km.

This equipment will be used in oil lines with internal working pressure up to 5 bars.

Shaft-motor joint should be properly sealed

So my question is: Where can we by such motor drives?

I will be definitely grateful any help or information

    Thanking everybody in advance

    Hi Alex,

To give you a start and to get you looking in the right places, if you check out our ‘Web Links‘ section (on the left menu)…there are a whole bunch of Suppliers listed, I guess one or two of them will carry/produce what your after at the moment, if not some other bit and pieces you’ve not thout about yet!

Hope you find what you need
    Best Regards

    Try these websites:

    http://www.micromo.com (dc motors)
    http://www.roboteq.com (dc motor controllers)

An alternative may be to use tracked drive units, but these most likely will not give you the max. speed you require?

http://www.inuktun.com make traction modules, also complete crawler vehicles, well-engineered industry proven (nuclear, eod, water inspection etc), good value with current weak dollar, they also have an ex-demo sale on. I’m currently actually looking at one of these for a possible job.

Don’t know how easy it will be to get the required 14km transit duration in the specified 250kg max vehicle weight, in an explosion-proof package, I guess you will need quite a few pretty efficient batteries, plus high-torque dc brushless motors with efficient gearing.

Sorry, just realised the Roboteq controller not suitable for brushless dc motors, but there are lots of manufacturers of suitable controllers out there if you do a web search.
