    Hi all,

I’m looking for some pointers on the technical questions Iā€™m likely to be asked in an interview for a Trainee ROV P/T.

I’m from a hydraulic/electrical/mechanical background but would like to brush up on ROV specific information….

    Cheers

Do not poop in the refrigerator !!

On a more serious note, go have a good look at the company web-site, pull up as much tech info as possible regarding the company vehicles. Maybe look up some articles as to where they do the majority of their business.

    Then go and have a good read of the following sites;

    http://www.tritech.co.uk
    http://www.tss-international.co.uk
    http://www.visualsoft-ltd.co.uk
    http://www.sub-atlantic.co.uk
    http://www.seaeye.com

That should cover you for a good introduction to most of the hardware , components and some of the vehicles you might use.

Fugro Aberdeen never stopped taking on trainees – still taking 6 on every few months.

To be taking on 12 a year must mean people are dropping out of the top end of the experience ladder. Ray?

No idea, Im never in the office and dont have anything to do with them , I see the occasional one getting thrown my way. The long termers still seem to be here, maybe theres a trainee black hole somewhere or a box they’re kept in??

As I’m a recruiter for an international ROV company, I would offer the following advice:

    1. Turn up on time
    2. Dress smart but casual – smart jeans/shirt is good (a suit is for an office job!)
    3. Do your homework on the company (I will ask you which ROV’s we operate and where etc)
    4. Be prepared for some basic tech questions on ROV’s (very general)
    5. Be prepared to answer an example tech query – "what would you do if" etc (very generic)
    6. Have answers to HR type questions – e.g. "why should I hire you", "what are your thoughts on HSE" etc
    7. Don’t tell me how fanatastic you are or put your feet on my desk.
    8. Just be yourself and don’t bullshit about anything (you will get found out very quickly once offshore)
    9. Keep good eye contact – but don’t stare at me too much (I’m easily scared!)
    10. If you can do the above, you will probably get a start with a bit of luck šŸ˜€

Anyway, this is obviously just my thoughts and not necessarily the way other players operate, but I hope some of this helps.
