I’ve used a Desert Star Pilot System that is integrted onto a VideoRay many times. Though I haven’t done any survey work that your looking to do, I was using it to conduct grid searches for evidence or recovery operations.
Accuracy wise, if you follow the recommended instructions you should be able to get sub meter accuracy.
Set up is pretty simple and the software basics are easy. If your looking to add pictures to your survey positions you’ll have to be a little more tech savy, but again it’s nothing that can’t be accomplished with some reading and practice.
