    HI Guys,
I have a Panamean seamen s book (cost 250€!), and I would like to work in Australia, per exemple. How dos it concretely help? I still need a visa in my passport? All countries have there agreements? Is it better to have Australian seamen s book or the UK one from Island of Men?
It s not really clear at the moment for me!
Could somebody explain to me the advantages of having one?
    Thanks

    Hi
It’s not that easy to get a seaman’s book of your choice, for the panama book i was working in UAE and was told they did not like that book anymore, a few onboard had one, was told that too many could just get it no question asked, don’t know if any have heard about it.
In ME you need a book, i have been working on ships where you need to have a book, no book no work

It also means you can get seaman flight tickets which allows bonus baggage weight and you get to sit on the worst seats on the plane.

Also if you keep it up to date it can assist with tax claims apparently.

Panama book is for the seamen who are working on board the Panama flag vessels.

For example: when I was going after my school on the vessel (Cyprus flag) as a deck cadet, the office made me a Cyprus seamans book.

Well It s always good to have one ready anyway.
For taxes, sometime work, more luggage.
    It s a beginning.
Still to work in Australia, is the Panamean Seamen s book helps or do I need a other one?
Seem s that the UK & Autralian isn that hard to get! For less then 100£
    Thank s for the replies
    Cheers
