    Hi guys,

I have questions that I would like to ask. Currently, I am working on a Triton XLS.
I facing a problem which puzzles me. While performing a deck check, I fire up ROV instrument, I have good telemetry. Start up ROV HPU,run thrusters,p/t everything is good. But when I switch on my 7 function manip, I have bad telemetry.
After half an hour, fire up again, switch on 7 function manip, it seems to work.
I am using a T4 7 function manip. Is it because of focal, prizm cards, power supply, control can??? Please advise me on these matter. Your advise is greatly appreciated.

bad telemetry on what? can you be more specific – is it poor telemetry on your manip or are you loosing coms to your rov sonar suite, other?

    did you install the t4?

I’d be checking the power suply the T4 is connected to. Sounds like it’s problem at start up of the power supply being dragged down. Once everything is running for a while, it all warms up and pulls less current.

I’m assuming you get the error message on the master controller. If so, the fault could be anywhere between the controller and the arm! Use the stunt box and run the arm independant of the sub, this will give you a better idea of whether the fault lies in the arm side or ROV side. Once this is known you can focus fault finding and adapt techniques to suit as you discover further details on the problem. This sort or issue is usually straight forward to solve.

Must say, I’m curious that you should post this kind of question. What level of experience does your team have?

we have the same issue on an XLX. we found that the multiplexer on surface is getting hot and kills comms with sonar and MC to the surface computer. we spaced the racks topside and now we dont get the issued often at all. we also added more cooling to the control room to help with the heat issue.

    Hi guys,

Thank you for your kind reply.

Savante- I lost telemetry when I switch on 7 manip. sonar is having good comm. I did not install the T4.

Rovnumpty- thank you for your kind advise. will remember that.

K2- There is no error message on the master controller. As I am new to the system, I am curious and willing to find out where the fault lies, but unfortunately, I did not have the mean to do so. Your advise is much appreciated. Thanks

Mudflap- We did the same thing. We give more space for the multiplexer. When the control room is more cooling, we won’t face this problem.
