Just read a couple of topics from last July about Perry Slingsby closing in US. Last month I was over at both Jupiter followed by Kirbymoorside and their still building in both sites. Jupiter has definitely reduced builds but the amount of engineers was the same as last time. UK must have had at least five or six XLXs/XLRs in various stages of build, alongside some other interesting wellhead intervention stuff that was going through.
It sounds like some of the support and tech guys have moved over from Jupiter to the Houston operation.
I was at the Houston site a few years ago and even then they had a good sized building with engineers, fitters, techs, etc and were building stuff, so not just salesman. Doubt it will be long before ROVs are coming out of there instead, if they arent already…
Basically I cant see any signs of demise, just a slow few months (which we had also) and an opportunity to move some of its operation from Florida to somewhere where theres an oil industry! Makes sense to me.
From what I’ve been told some of the main backers are based in Houston, not just UK banks, again makes sense.

    Techno,

That’s good news and a positive sign that there’s some uplift of the US (or least Florida) economy and the O & G industry! Now all we need to see is the oil price level off to USD $80/bbl and all will be sweet.

It’s official ……Perry Jupiter is closing doors effective June 1. Last ROV is in FAT right now. SAD DAY for the industry. It’s amazing how incompetent leadership can destroy 30+ years of unbeleivable development in the ROV industry.

sorry to divert slightly – but did you say perry were working on some well intervention equipment ? Do you mean like – wireline equipment or a fancy TDR?

I hope Triton doesn’t change or modify too many things on the systems….
