It has come to our attention that these days there is a better way for us to aid the search for global ROV related work in our industry. No we’re not looking at becoming an agency! There is not shortage of them already!!

The idea is to bring employers/agencies easier access and ease of adding/searching for job information via a content management system.

There are one or two sites trialling this approach already so we thought why not have a bash ourselves.

Usual terms would apply – FREE to companies/agencies and employees/freelance alike.

The idea would be to add a mini site that does nothing other than cater for the ebb and flow of sub-sea ROV jobs. We’d try to incorporate it as an include into this site, if not it would be accessed by opening another window. The downside if that you would need to register on the job site to gain full benefit from its services such as:

    Employers/Agencies
Adding company information just once in your account
    Adding Jobs

    Employees/Freelance

    Performing job searches
Being emailed when new jobs are added

Once up and running we would scale back the forum as far as adding jobs is concerned.

All thoughts comments etc. are welcome.

I think it might work, instead of having to jump to specific forums. If it 1 click away. HALLO, we are the last people to read the manual, anyway

Having been ‘inactive’ since Dec 2009 and rapidly depleting the already meager slush-fund as fast as a GoM blow-out, I have searched the www, contacting nearly every being who has ever sniffed an ROV. I consider my skill in rov has been surpassed and I am now a specialist in surfing the web for work 🙂

Frustration rises when ancient and obsolete posts are encountered.

There are a dearth of sites offering a similar service and at first I scoffed at the suggestion of considering yet another one.

After some thought, I say AYE! Go for it. Hopefully it will consolidate the worthy postings and separate the chaff from the wheat.

    You’ve got my vote.

Sorry to be slightly off topic…. BUT, wouldn’t it be nice if there was only one or 2 agencies????

I don’t have a problem with making a couple of extra clicks to see a job offer…. no big deal. But James, if you want to make a mini-module, please be sure to have auto locks on each thread as is presently. PM’s only folks or direct email to the job prospect.

    All

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Basically it would be a mini site running under our domain.
Employers would need to register and post jobs. They would need to provide contact information.
Free to register and free to post job requirements.
Those wishing to respond to job ads would most likely need to register (once only) as well. Free to register and free to view/respond to job requirements.
That’s it in general terms. Not sure on the final details yet.

The site/module would be fully stripped down to jobs only. Any other ROVworld ROV related stuff would be business as usual in the main ROVworld site.
In the jobs/work module there would be no discussion forum or comments option linked to the jobs so no need to lock anything. Once established we would probably remove the job requirements sections from the Forum but leave the existing employment discussion boards, Rookie comer etc.

Based on the positive feedback so far we’ll probably try to set this up during the course of next week

In the meantime… any further comments on this approach welcome.

Just for info I have on my data base over 482 agencys and there just the ones that I know of , I am sure there are more that dont come up on the web and most of them all seem to be chasing the same work .

    Good Luck
