Behind the scenes progress is being made. Nothing is being rushed into and each step required to set up the Association is being examined and acted upon as required.

Official application will shortly be submitted for the registration of the International Remotely Operated Vehicle Association (IROVA) as a non profit making association.

Part of the application process requires the submission of at least a three person Advisory Committee and/or the people IROVA founders propose to approach to become members of the advisory committee. The committee should comprise those with extensive ROV industry knowledge, sufficient enough to be able to offer advice on various aspects of the workings of our industry when called upon to do so.

As the name IROVA suggests this is an International Association being formed, so the association founder/organisers would like to hear from anybody residing in any part of the world who wish to propose themselves as an Advisory Committee Member (ACM).

If you feel that you have the necessary ROV industry experience/knowledge and wish to offer your new Association the benefit of your long term experience as an ACM please send an email outlining why you feel you are suitable candidate for such a role to register@IROVA.org for more information.

All information received from interested applicants will be treated in the strictest confidence.

    Gents
Just a note in support of the above posting.

This is our opportunity to make our industry better and have someplace to turn to if things go wrong.

The advisory committee is a legal requirement for the association to follow. We will try to appoint people who cover the spectrum of ROV work and are well knowledgable in all aspects of the industry.

As well as the advisory committee we will also have regional representatives who are knowledgable in their particular region.

At this time we have founder members registered from every continent except South America.

This formalisation can and will happen and then it is up to all the people in our industry to decide whether to make this flourish or let it fade away.

I personally think it will flourish to become part of our industry and make our futures more secure and better thought of.

Every application will be looked at and held in the strictest of confidence.

Any representatives from Africa on IROVA Board yet? Are any formal documents for us to review about IROVA? Do we have a business plan? How will the organisation sustain itself?

I don’t know myself where we are at on that, but I’m sure the person responsible for collating this information will respond.
You can email info@IROVA.org and ask if you wish.

Are any formal documents for us to review about IROVA?

Not yet because IROVA doesn’t exist at this moment. Once it does information will be released. I would suggest that no more or less information will be released, electronically by email or via it’s website, to non members than any other association would normally add to the public domain such as (but not limited to) association aims, structure, contact information, membership, safety information and news. Members would be entitled to enhanced levels of disclosure as per members of other similar associations.

The only documentation currently in existence is the associations registration application. It makes no sense, to me at least, to put that on common release. Once registration of the association has been processed successfully work can commence on the functional aspects of the IROVA.

Do we have a business plan? How will the organisation sustain itself?

The plan/structure for the association is being worked on.
Initially, it is anticipated that the non profit making organisation, IROVA, will fund itself from membership fees.

    To all those reading this…
Please bear in mind that, like this website, the association is being formed from nothing and will only come about due to the dedication of a few unpaid individuals with minimal resources using their spare time to achieve this. There is no corporate funding behind IROVA!

This in not the IMCA, with corporations chucking their weight behind it from the outset. Therefore, rather obviously, there is quite a difference between how much a group of Marine Contractors and a group of Individual can achieve in any given period of time.

IROVA will start small and gradually grow, but we must be patient and not expect too much at the outset.

There will be teething problems and growing pains that will need sorting out/debating. In the meantime it’s surely good to know that, when it comes to the ROV industry organising itself, something is being done to try and fill the very obvious organisational vacuum that currently exists.

    Gents,
We have a number of good people wishing to join the advisory board.

In order to progress the formation of the association we will leave this open for one more week to give everyone the opportunity of being on the board.

Please forward your request to register@irova.org

    Khalil,
    Further to the above.
I have received your brief email on behalf of your employer.

If your employer wishes to be considered then he should make contact himself stating his reasons for wishing this post and a briefing of his qualifications.

Third party requests cannot be considered.

    Which makes perfect sense.
