Have a read of the news here http://enr.construction.com/yb/enr/article.aspx?story_id=149864558
Could mean quite a bit of work for all of us in the subsea side of the industry!

Ya’ cuts your own rates mate!
September 19, 2010 at 2:54 pm #29248AnonymousGuestCan you please write without caps on. It makes for easier reading! This has been pointed out to many a new hand in the industry. 😆
September 19, 2010 at 4:24 pm #29249luckyjim37ParticipantEven if the rates are lower there are guys who will go and work there and that will leave a manpower vacuum in other areas of the world.
That is when basic economics will prevail number of jobs v’s number of people = companies who pay well and look after the staff get the people.Could be a good thing to get the rates moving again for the dayrater’s
and may even lead to a busier winter period. However it could still be a good few months away, by the time projects are worked out and started it could just mean the summer period is even busier than normal next year or producers pull assests off exploration and development and use them for decommissioning wells which may result in not a lot of extra work for ROV’s.
It would appear that with this turn of events and the ever increasing number of offshore windfarms around the world that the ROV industry should be on for another boom period over the next three or four years.
We live as ever in interesting times.

You underestimate what the "technicians" from the Gulf region are willing to work for. I’ve worked with ROV technicians that make $50K a year and are ecstatic because that’s the most money they have ever made in their lives. 😆

The guys in the GOM are undercutting themselves and don’t realize it. Add another 100K USD to the number you have above for a 180 day "work days" year and then you’ll be getting close…. This is Supv. rates so subtract from this starting point for ROV grades below this.
November 15, 2010 at 2:59 pm #29257AnonymousGuestThis will be my last post on this [admin edit] joke of a site, you guys are in a dreamland!!! There are about 10 of you on here who comment and talk shit and when anyone else posts you on them like white on rice. Who gives a toss what they work for in the States?? Its up to the individual to pick and choose, i dont think it will effect you ROV superstars who pick your own rates, work where you want and choose the length of your trip, i have yet to meet any of you clowns and i hope i never have the misfortune of working with you because its obvious you have been in the game too long and have lost touch with reality?? Dont know for sure but the way you guys post and your attitude stinks of EX divers???
In closing to all you guys in the real world dont take advise from these [admin edit] as they are probably scared you will steal there jobs, everyone needs to take shit rates sometimes, if you have enough money to sit at home for a year what the [admin edit] are you doing working anyway……

So lad…. after 6 whole years in the business you know-it-all, been there done it and can now call us oldies dinosaurs, similar terms, and carunts. Are you on the same boat with the likes of folks such as Asian Stallion? You deserve each other. Good luck with your career – you’re going to need it… Use spelcheque as wel…
November 16, 2010 at 9:51 am #29259James McLauchlanParticipantTalking in the past tense as TheBhoy has just stated he has posted his last post…..
I guess they are off to attend an anger management course maybe? That’s the trouble with only having one side of a bunk to get out of 😉
I note that TheBhoy’s consideration of the whole site is based on a few posts in the forum. I wonder if that included the News, FAQ’s, Weblinks and advertisers as well.
As is often said.. freedom of choice prevails… sometime to the benefit of others.
Oh well…… onwards for another 10 years or so of ROVworld.com
