    Hello,

Am a student in the UK doing a project on thrusters.

I would like to know who are the main manufactures of thrusters from small to large ROVs. Also if you know anything about who is/developing rim driven thrusters for ROVs and AUVs that would be enormously helpful.

If you could post lists of manufactures that would be the best for me.

Thank you for you help. 😀

Not sure if there are any ROV manufacturers working with RDT’s yet these seem to be fairly new technology on vessels as oppossed toROV systems. That is after about 4 minutes research though so as always I could be wrong (but would never admit it).

Magnetically rim driven thrusters fell out of favour a wee while back with Schilling and their quest vehicle due I think to reliability issues, they are now using our (Sub-Atlantic) large brushless DC thrusters with a conventional prop on their electric vehicles.

I think one of the micro ROVs uses a mechanical rim driven thruster but I might be wrong?

    That’ll be the AC-ROV

Both the -75m and the -3000m Fly-Out models both use centreless ‘rim driven’ (as you say) thrusters.
