Any suggestions for UK suppliers for video camera modules or high intensity LEDs? I know you can buy drop in LED modules etc from the likes of Bowtech but I’m looking for a (really) cheap option – definitely sub £100 for a camera module for example.

The camera/lights would be required to drive over 50m of cable, so may need a bit of video compensation/boost if its a very cheap camera.

    Any suggestions?

    Ray,

CPC do a 600tvl 0.1 lux small mono video camera for £72.81

I have potted similar units in clear urethane for cheap shallow cameras

    part no. SR05106

    http://www.cpc.co.uk

They do 5W Luxeon Star LEDs for £17.08 Part no SC02255

These LEDs are rated at about 100 Lumens.

If you bolted one to a heatsink and potted it with clear urethane you would get a cheap light for short shallow use.

    Ray,

If you are using high power LEDs, you will need a heatsink in the housing behind the LEDs that has a good heatpath out of the housing.

It can be difficult to reuse existing housings for this reason.

If you are looking for larger LEDs than the Luxeons, Farnell also stock CREE products.
