Anyone heard what happened about the Rope Access guy last week on the Brent Charlie ?
The Circumstances around it appear vague 😕
"Hatch cover severed ropes" Supposedly. and the risk assesment would have made safe the Hatch cover surely 😕

I have some Rope Access guys on here as part of the ROV team. The circumstances "How" it happened ( Under investigation ) are vague 😕
Considering the Safety standards involved in Rope Access , it is very difficult to see how this should ever have happened in the first place.

On the website of the Grampian Police you’ll find this statement dated:

22/06/2011 – Grampian Police have named the North Sea worker who lost his life following an incident on Thursday 16 June at the Brent Charlie installation as 37 year old Lee Bertram.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Aberdeen and a joint investigation by Grampian Police and the Health and Safety Executive into the circumstances of his death is ongoing under the direction of the Health and Safety Division of COPFS.

Looks like we’ve to wait for the official final report for official information.

Maybe there’s a ‘rope access’ website with more information/rumors.
