Funny as it says nothing about what you need as backround.
They prob sign you up even if your a 50 year old taxi driver.. sure, you’ll become an rov pilot! 😉
If you dont have either mechanical, hydraulic, electrical or electronics backround, its hard to get into the business.

Subnet services continue to send out emails to Companies offering their services to train staff and despite being not to by IMCA, still state that they produce IMCA Registered Pilots.

IMCA have already told companies to stop doing this. IMCA do not register anyone, IMCA produce guidelines, which companies can use to produce training with, but that is not the same as being registered by them.

They appear to be emulating the early day training companies which gave all other ones following such a bad name.

Oi, there are plenty of 50 year old taxi drivers in the norwegian sector. they make very good pilots.

    Hi Ray (ROVWorld)

So Subnet’s course does not follow IMCA syllabus?

Is Subnet not a member of IMCA as they state?

I have looked on the IMCA site, they seem to be listed under training and personnel procurement or something.

I have seen the course material and it teaches the same as all the other courses, maybe more. Whats missing? I have the material here with me now, I am thinking of booking. I see no evidence of it stating that it is IMCA approved, just mention of them being IMCA members (is this not true?) and that their course follows IMCA syllabus?

Whats more it’s less money, teaches the same, and maybe you can get some off-duty time to have some fun in the subic area.

ROVWorld LDA’s forum is confusing me at the least, I am sure I have been given some wrong facts here. I will have to telephone subnet and imca.

    Please advise Ray/James?

Firstyl, I am not ROVWorld, I am a poster of messages the same as any other member.

Yes, Subnet Services are IMCA members. Yes, their website now says their training courses follow the IMCA syllabus.

Well, apart from http://www.subnetservices.com/rovcourse/ROVpilot_trainingcourse.html which you appear to have forgotten to edit where it says

we have been IMCA training members for 3 maybe 4 years

. This same quote is on the ROV 3 in 1 course page [url] http://www.subnetservices.com/rovcourse/ROVcourse3in1.html

Also look at feedback from personnel who have actually taken the course http://www.rovworld.com/phpnuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1641&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=.

Another quote on here from a member (petchy83) who took your course:-

I have been to subic on the rov course and i thought it was a joke i learned more sat in the bar talking to OIM and ROV supervisor in 1 hour then i did in the whole 3 weeks, I am now on a search to become trainee rov pilot and the companys dont seem to be bothered about the subnet course at all, Does any one else feel the same about the course?

I have seen emails that Sub Net Services have sent out offering "IMCA Certified" personnel when there is no such thing.

There are many other people who have stated on here that they were told they would be IMCA Certified by Sub Net Services (but to be fair some other training establishments sometimes tell the same porkies).

If one course is 3 weeks long and another 6 weeks long, how can you say that you learn the same. Do they talk twice as fast??

Go ahead and book if you want, its your choice.

I can see you are a little confused. To clear up one point….

ROVworld Lda ( http://www.rovworld.com/lda ) is a limited company registered here in Portugal. It’s a commercial venture with it’s Forum created purely for customer product support and not general ROV discussion. It most certainly does not carry the type of confusing information you suggest.

This Forum ROVworld.com is the one you are most likely thinking of.
The information you find here is posted by various members and, as such, you need to read through it and make your own decision as to the best way to go. Please do not think for a moment that any ROVworld.com admins or moderators are responsible for the overall content posted here other than to moderate that which steps out-with the forum rules.

You need to view the information you read in this forum as a tool to use to assist you in making the correct decision but it should not be deemed as telling you what you should do or what course you should attend.

How can you trust his words if you know who he really is???

deepbluespark is just making up stories… I was in the Philippines when he took his rov course, I was sent by a company to look out for potential rov training sites in Asia, I just stumbled upon SubNet services and somewhat wathched over the training, and the delegates of course as I was tasked to pick out a few of them… Then, there was deepblue, name witheld as to protect his dignity… well, he’s a disaster, he picks a fight anywhere he goes and all of his trainee mates are really mad at him and requested that he should be quarantined from them… and at the dorm, in one of the restos there, he even ate a whole crispy pork serving and after munching on it and take note, eating it all up, he even had the guts to tell the crew that it was horrible and he won’t pay for it… ah, so much for that…

well, if your planning on going to the Philippines to do a training, they definitely give a Great training and a nice background for the rookies…
