    Hi everyone,

I’m 19 and a student at college, I’m currently studying a HND in Engineering Systems (specializing in the Mechatronics aspect of the course) and I would love to get into the ROV industry as it is something that I thoroughly enjoy.

I am currently nearing the end of my course and am absent minded as to what I should do once it has finished. Do I find another course in a University in which to carry on my study’s or am I ready to start applying for trainee positions and if so which companies should I apply to?

    Thanks Jordan!

There is a whole pile of information on this site added over the years by people answering the same type of questions. Have a good read through Rookie Corner and use the search box to the top left of the site. Also, have a look through the FAQ section and Vocational training.

Once you’ve trawled through that lot you’ll pretty much have all the answers you’ll need.

    Jordan,

I would suggest you try to ease yourself into offshore working, say with some Seismic or survey or perhaps cable work. Possibly R ‘n D with some AUV manufacturers.

Get yourself into a large company, gain their as much ‘in house’ and exteral training as you can get, and give it another try in 3-5 years time.

That said, if you have got big enough brass ‘ones’ then give it a shot…I’m only jelous 😉
